DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol treatment centers are either there on their own accord, but usually in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could possibly be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of staying out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This will certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug abuse should they drive while intoxicated down the road. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
