DUI/DWI clients who're involved in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders might be required to go to treatment either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of remaining out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This could truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug abuse when they drive while intoxicated in the foreseeable future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
