Criminal justice clients are people who are in any type of alcohol and drug treatment program because of alcohol or drug related crime. This can occur for example if someone is found guilty of driving under the influence or DWI, or for any other kind of drug related crime that has led the court to believe the individual has any type of drug or alcohol use issue. Not everybody has the option of taking part in a drug treatment center as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered by the court it is strongly advised that the individual do everything they are able to to get the most from this opportunity. On many occasions, other penalties and consequences could be completely eliminated or lessened if the individual does well in treatment and finishes the drug rehab program which has been ordered for them. First-time offenders would be the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been established that criminal justice clients that do experience rehabilitation instead of other consequences have significantly lower recidivism rates than people who find themselves ordered to incarceration or similar consequences. Eventually, it saves the court system both time and money when criminal justice clients obtain powerful treatment.
