DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug treatment programs are generally there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug treatment as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders could possibly be required to go to rehab either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their drug abuse when they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
