DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehab centers are generally there by their own choice, but usually in drug and alcohol treatment as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders may be ordered to treatment either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that those who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of remaining out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug abuse should they drive while intoxicated down the road. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
