DUI/DWI clients who are involved in alcohol and drug treatment centers are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be required to go to rehab either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of staying out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their substance abuse if they drive while under the influence down the road. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
