Criminal justice clients are people who are in any type of alcohol and drug treatment program as a result of alcohol or drug related offense. This will happen for instance if someone else is convicted of driving under the influence or DWI, and for any other type of drug related crime which has led the court to believe that the individual has any type of drug abuse issue. Not every person has the option of getting involved in an alcohol and drug rehab center as a criminal justice client, however, if this approach is ordered through the judge it is wise that the individual try everything they can to get the most from this chance. Oftentimes, other penalties and consequences could be totally eradicated or lessened if the individual does well in rehabilitation and completes the drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility that has been ordered for them. First-time offenders would be the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients who do take part in treatment in place of other consequences have significantly lower recidivism rates than those people who are ordered to incarceration or similar consequences. In the long run, it saves the court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients obtain effective treatment.
