DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug treatment programs are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be required to go to treatment either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that people who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of remaining out of the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which set off their drug abuse. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while intoxicated later on. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
