DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in alcohol and drug treatment facilities are either there on their own accord, but usually in drug rehab due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically first-time offenders might be required to go to rehab either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of staying out from the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug abuse whenever they drive while under the influence later on. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
