DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug rehab centers are either there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug rehab as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders may be required to go to rehab either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This will certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their substance abuse if they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
