DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug rehab facilities are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug and alcohol rehab as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders might be ordered to rehab either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of remaining out of the courts than those who are fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which set off their substance abuse. This will certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while under the influence later on.
