DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug rehab facilities are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of staying out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This may certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their substance abuse should they drive while intoxicated later on.
