DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug rehabilitation centers are either there on their own accord, but usually in alcohol and drug rehabilitation due to a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders might be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of remaining out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse if they drive while drunk or high in the future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
