Native American and Alaska Native people generally have significantly higher rates of substance abuse then other racial backgrounds. Native Americans and Alaska Natives may receive treatment within a conventional alcohol and drug rehab facility if treatment is provided in their language, or take advantage of center which has been designed exclusively to deal with these clients in their own language exclusively. Drug and alcohol rehab facilities which provide rehabilitation in Native American or Alaska Native Languages provide either a conventional approach such as rehabilitation plans based using the 12-step method, or there are drug treatment programs with rehab programs using their language which offer a more holistic and alternate approach. Because so many areas of the Native American and Alaska Native cultures focus on holistic healing and the like, these clients can greatly benefit from an alternative drug treatment facility which incorporates these components of their culture in to a thorough rehabilitation plan in their language. Native Americans and Alaska Natives who need treatment and would like to take advantage of a rehabilitation setting conducive to their traditional healing practices may even take part in rehab services at many programs and alcohol and drug treatment centers which strive to provide a tranquil setting.
