DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in alcohol and drug treatment programs are either there on their own accord, but usually in drug and alcohol rehabilitation as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be required to go to rehab either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of remaining out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while under the influence down the road.
