DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug rehab centers are generally there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders could possibly be required to go to rehab either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of staying out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
