Criminal justice clients are people who are in any kind of drug and alcohol rehabilitation program because of a drug or alcohol related crime. This can occur for example if a person is found guilty of driving under the influence or DWI, and for any other kind of drug related criminal offense that has led the judge to believe that the individual has any sort of substance abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in a drug rehab center as a criminal justice client, but when this approach is ordered from the judge it is wise that the individual do everything they can to get the most from this chance. In many cases, other penalties and consequences can be entirely eliminated or lessened if the individual does well in treatment and completes the drug rehab program which was ordered for them. Very first time offenders would be the most probable criminal justice clients because it has been verified that criminal justice clients who do experience rehab in lieu of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than people who find themselves ordered to time in jail or receive other penalties. In the long run, it saves the court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients obtain effective rehabilitation.
