DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehabilitation facilities are either there by their own choice, but usually in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be ordered to treatment either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of remaining out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug abuse. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while under the influence in the future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
