DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug and alcohol rehab facilities are either there by their own choice, but usually in drug and alcohol rehab due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could possibly be required to go to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug abuse.
