DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug and alcohol rehab centers are either there by their own choice, but generally in drug rehab due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders may be ordered to rehab either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of staying out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their substance abuse if they drive while drunk or high down the road. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
