DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol rehab programs are either there on their own accord, but usually in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been determined that people who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of staying out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while intoxicated later on. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
