Criminal justice clients are people who are in any kind of drug and alcohol rehabilitation program due to a drug or alcohol related criminal offense. This will occur for instance if someone is found guilty of driving under the influence or DWI, and for any other type of drug related offense which has led the judge to believe that the individual has any sort of drug or alcohol use issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program as a criminal justice client, however, if this option is ordered by the court it's wise that the individual do everything they're able to to make the most of this opportunity. Oftentimes, other penalties and consequences could be completely eliminated or lessened if the individual does well in treatment and finishes the drug and alcohol rehab program that has been ordered for them. First time offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been established that criminal justice clients that experience rehabilitation instead of other penalties have much lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to incarceration or receive other penalties. In the end, it saves a legal court system both money and time when criminal justice clients receive effective treatment.
