DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol treatment centers are either there on their own accord, but generally in drug and alcohol rehab due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders might be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of remaining out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehabilitation programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these issues and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This could certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug abuse whenever they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
