DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehab facilities are either there on their own accord, but generally in alcohol and drug rehabilitation as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders may be ordered to treatment either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug abuse if they drive while intoxicated down the road. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
