DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug rehabilitation programs are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug treatment due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of remaining out of the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, in order to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their substance abuse if they drive while under the influence down the road. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
