DUI/DWI clients that are involved in alcohol and drug treatment programs are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders might be required to go to rehab either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that those who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have much better odds of staying out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse.
