DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in alcohol and drug rehab centers are generally there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug treatment as part of a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This may certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while intoxicated later on. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
