DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug treatment centers are either there on their own accord, but generally in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders may be required to go to treatment either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have greater odds of remaining out of the courts than those who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be impacted by their drug abuse should they drive while intoxicated in the future. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
