DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug rehabilitation centers are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug treatment as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have far better odds of staying out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while drunk or high in the future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
