DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehabilitation facilities are generally there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to rehab either instead of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of staying out of the court system than those who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This can certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while intoxicated in the future. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
