DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug and alcohol rehabilitation as part of a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to rehabilitation either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment facilities DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, so that they can address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This could certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug abuse when they drive while intoxicated in the future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
