DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug rehab programs are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug and alcohol rehabilitation due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to treatment either in place of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have greater odds of remaining out of the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems and find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This will truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use whenever they drive while intoxicated in the future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
