DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug rehab programs are generally there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug treatment as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that those who are treated for drug abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of staying out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to be able to address these issues and find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug or alcohol use. This can truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their substance abuse if they drive while under the influence later on. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
