DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug and alcohol treatment centers are either there by their own choice, but generally in alcohol and drug rehab due to a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders may be required to go to treatment either instead of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehabilitation as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which set off their substance abuse. This can certainly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their substance abuse when they drive while drunk or high down the road. This is a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
