DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs are generally there on their own accord, but more often than not in alcohol and drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be required to go to treatment either in place of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of remaining out from the court system than those who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug and alcohol rehab facilities DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug abuse if they drive while drunk or high in the future. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
