DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug treatment programs are generally there by their own choice, but more often than not in drug rehab due to a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab as opposed to being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of remaining out of the court system than those people who are fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these issues and find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This will certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be affected by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while drunk or high in the foreseeable future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
