Sanford - Dual Diagnosis

Dual diagnosis can be a circumstance whereby two independent disorders exist, and most often denotes a co-occurring drug abuse and mental health disorder. A dual diagnosis will help a person that might not have been capable of being helped before, stop drug abuse by being correctly diagnosed and treated. Their mental health disorder may have been misdiagnosed, not diagnosed at all, or mistreated that could have prompted and resulted in their drug abuse issues. Establishing the fact that someone is actually a dual diagnosis client not only helps establish a highly effective treatment course for them, but may also help clients better understand what triggered their substance abuse and the way to prevent it in the foreseeable future. Addressing dual diagnosis is often a more extensive process when compared to a typical drug rehab program, and people who have a dual diagnosis may need to take part in an extensive aftercare program which might include proper medical support in addition to further rehabilitation services. Being clinically determined to have co-occurring disorders doesn't signify the person will need to be medicated through out their lives either, and in fact a lot of people who have a dual diagnosis experience much better results when treated holistically and when alternative therapy is utilized.
