DUI/DWI clients that are taking part in drug treatment centers are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to treatment either in place of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been proven that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being forced upon them have far better chances of remaining out from the courts than those people who are fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This may truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use should they drive while drunk or high down the road. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
