DUI/DWI clients who're taking part in drug treatment facilities are either there by their own choice, but most of the time in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, particularly first-time offenders may be ordered to rehabilitation either in lieu of other penalties or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from rehab instead of being punished for their crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been established that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better chances of staying out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug and alcohol treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse alcohol and drugs, to enable them to address these issues in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which trigger their substance abuse. This may certainly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people that may be impacted by their substance abuse when they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
