Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any sort of drug treatment center as a result of alcohol or drug related crime. This will occur for example if a person is convicted of driving under the influence or DWI, or for any other kind of drug related offense that has led the judge to believe that the individual has any kind of drug abuse issue. Not every person has the option of getting involved in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation program as a criminal justice client, but when this option is ordered from the court it is well advised that the individual do everything they're able to to benefit from this chance. Most of the time, other penalties and consequences could be entirely eliminated or lessened when the individual succeeds in rehab and completes the drug and alcohol rehab program which was ordered for them. New offenders are the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been verified that criminal justice clients that do take part in treatment in lieu of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to incarceration or similar consequences. Ultimately, it saves the court system both money and time when criminal justice clients receive effective rehabilitation.
