Criminal justice clients are people who are in any type of drug and alcohol treatment center on account of alcohol or drug related criminal offense. This can occur for example if someone else is found guilty of drunk driving or DWI, or any other type of drug related criminal offense which has led a legal court to believe that the individual has any type of substance abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center as a criminal justice client, but when this option is ordered by the court it's strongly advised that the individual do everything they are able to to take full advantage of this opportunity. First time offenders are the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been determined that criminal justice clients who do take part in rehabilitation in lieu of other penalties have significantly lower recidivism rates than those who find themselves ordered to jail time or receive other penalties. In the long run, it saves a legal court system both time and expense when criminal justice clients obtain effective rehab.
