DUI/DWI clients who are involved in drug rehabilitation programs are generally there on their own accord, but most of the time in drug and alcohol treatment due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be required to go to rehab either in lieu of other consequences or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab rather than being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that people who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the courts than those who are fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In drug treatment centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This will truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be impacted by their drug abuse if they drive while drunk or high later on. This is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
