Criminal justice clients are individuals who are in any kind of drug and alcohol treatment facility as a result of alcohol or drug related crime. This will occur for example when someone is found guilty of a DUI or DWI, or for any other type of drug related offense that has led the judge to believe the individual has any sort of drug abuse issue. Not everyone has the option of getting involved in a drug treatment program as a criminal justice client, but if this option is ordered through the court it is wise that the individual do everything they can to take full advantage of this opportunity. Most of the time, other penalties and consequences can be completely eliminated or lessened when the individual does well in rehabilitation and finishes the drug and alcohol rehabilitation center which was ordered for them. Very first time offenders would be the most likely criminal justice clients because it has been proven that criminal justice clients who do experience rehabilitation in lieu of other consequences have much lower recidivism rates than those who are ordered to time in jail or receive other penalties. Eventually, it saves the court system both money and time when criminal justice clients obtain powerful rehab.
