DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug treatment centers are either there by their own choice, but usually in drug rehabilitation as part of a mandatory order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders might be ordered to rehabilitation either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better odds of remaining out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their substance abuse. This could truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use if they drive while intoxicated down the road.
