DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in drug and alcohol treatment facilities are generally there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug treatment due to a mandated order from the court. DUI/DWI clients, particularly initial offenders may be required to go to treatment either instead of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from treatment as opposed to being punished for his or her crimes, and so can the judicial system. It has been verified that people who are treated for drug abuse issues as opposed to other penalties being forced upon them have much better chances of staying out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to incarceration, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can ascertain why they abuse alcohol and drugs, so that they can address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual situations and circumstances within their lives which prompt their drug abuse. This may truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be affected by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while drunk or high in the future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
