Native American and Alaska Native people generally have significantly increased rates of alcohol and drug abuse then other racial ethnicities. Native Americans and Alaska Natives may either receive treatment in a traditional drug and alcohol rehabilitation center if treatment is provided in their own language, or benefit from facility which was developed exclusively to treat these clients in their own language exclusively. Alcohol and drug treatment programs which offer rehab in Native American or Alaska Native Languages offer either a conventional approach including rehabilitation plans based off of the 12-step method, or there are alcohol and drug rehab facilities with rehab plans in their language which provide a more holistic and alternate approach. Since many aspects of the Native American and Alaska Native cultures concentrate on holistic healing and so on, these clients can greatly benefit from an alternate drug rehab center which includes these elements of their culture in an extensive rehab plan in their language. Native Americans and Alaska Natives who need rehabilitation and can benefit from a treatment setting conducive to their traditional healing procedures can even take part in rehabilitation services at a number of programs and drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers which strive to give a serene environment.
