DUI/DWI clients who are taking part in alcohol and drug rehab programs are generally there by their own choice, but generally in drug rehabilitation due to a mandatory court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders could be ordered to rehabilitation either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation as an alternative to being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been verified that individuals who are treated for substance abuse issues instead of other penalties being forced upon them have greater chances of staying out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to time in jail, etc. In drug rehab centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to enable them to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances within their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use. This can truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those that may be affected by their drug abuse should they drive while under the influence in the foreseeable future. It's a real second chance for DUI/DWI clients.
