DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug treatment programs are generally there by their own choice, but usually in drug and alcohol rehab as part of a mandatory court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially initial offenders might be ordered to rehab either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients will benefit greatly from rehabilitation instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that individuals who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as opposed to other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of remaining out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can determine why they abuse drugs and alcohol, to be able to address these problems in order to find resolution for the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which set off their drug or alcohol use.
