DUI/DWI clients who're involved in alcohol and drug rehab centers are either there on their own accord, but generally in alcohol and drug rehabilitation as part of a mandated court ruling. DUI/DWI clients, specifically initial offenders could be required to go to rehab either in place of other penalties or as part of their sentence. DUI/DWI clients may benefit greatly from treatment instead of being punished because of their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for drug or alcohol use issues as an alternative to other penalties being enforced upon them have much better chances of staying out from the courts than people who find themselves fined, ordered to jail time, etc. In alcohol and drug treatment programs DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these problems in order to find resolution to the actual conditions and circumstances in their lives which trigger their drug abuse. This may truly save lives, not only the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but those who may be affected by their substance abuse if they drive while under the influence in the future. It is a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
