DUI/DWI clients that are involved in drug rehab centers are either there by their own choice, but usually in alcohol and drug treatment as part of a mandated court order. DUI/DWI clients, especially first-time offenders might be ordered to treatment either in lieu of other consequences or as a part of a sentence. DUI/DWI clients can benefit greatly from rehab as an alternative to being punished for their crimes, and so can the court system. It has been determined that those who are treated for substance abuse issues rather than other penalties being enforced upon them have far better odds of staying out from the court system than people who find themselves fined, ordered to prison time, etc. In drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers DUI/DWI clients can establish why they abuse drugs and alcohol, in order to address these issues and find resolution to the actual situations and circumstances inside their lives which prompt their drug or alcohol use. This can truly save lives, not just the lives of the DUI/DWI clients, but people who may be impacted by their drug or alcohol use when they drive while drunk or high in the future. It's a real second opportunity for DUI/DWI clients.
